The Badavanalu Gandhi Khadi Centre is a testament to India’s enduring tradition of self-reliance and sustainable living. Established with the inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of swadeshi and rural empowerment, this khadi centre has played a vital role in preserving the art of handspun and handwoven textiles. Established during the freedom movement under Mahatma Gandhi’s influence, this centre stands as a testament to self-reliance and sustainable living. It was established in 1927 as part of the Swadeshi Movement by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar. Mahatma Gandhi himself visited Badavanalu twice, once in 1927, and then again in 1932. The centre is a hub of activity, where skilled artisans craft khadi fabric using traditional methods that reflect Gandhian principles of simplicity and self-sufficiency. The rhythmic hum of spinning wheels and the meticulous weaving process create an atmosphere that transports visitors back to the days of India’s freedom struggle, where khadi became a symbol of national pride and resistance. More than just a weaving centre, the Badavanalu Gandhi Khadi Centre is a beacon of community empowerment. It provides employment opportunities to local artisans, especially women, enabling them to earn a livelihood while preserving an age-old craft. The centre also promotes environmentally sustainable practices by using natural dyes and organic cotton, making it a pioneer in eco-friendly textile production. Visitors to the centre can witness the intricate process of spinning and weaving khadi fabric, gaining a deeper appreciation for the skill and effort involved. ಬದನವಾಳು ಗಾಂಧಿಯವರ ಖಾದಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರವು ಭಾರತದ ಖಾದಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕೈಮಗ್ಗ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಹಾತ್ಮ ಗಾಂಧಿಯವರ ಸ್ವದೇಶಿ ಮತ್ತು ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಸಬಲೀಕರಣದ ಆದರ್ಶಗಳ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾದ ಈ ಖಾದಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರವು ಕೈಯಿಂದ ನೇಯ್ದು ತಯಾರಿಸಿದ ಖಾದಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾ  ಗಾಂಧಿಯವರ ಪ್ರಭಾವದ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಚಳವಳಿಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿತವಾದ ಈ ಕೇಂದ್ರವು ಸ್ವಾವಲಂಬನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಸ್ಥಿರ ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ನಾಲ್ವಡಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣರಾಜ ಒಡೆಯರ್ ಅವರು ಸ್ವದೇಶಿ ಚಳವಳಿಯ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿ ಇದನ್ನು 1927ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು. ಸ್ವತಃ ಮಹಾತ್ಮ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ಅವರೇ 1927  ಮತ್ತು 1932ರಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಬಾರಿ ಬದನವಾಳುಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಕೇಂದ್ರವು ಕ್ರಿಯಾಶೀಲ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಯ ತಾಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನುರಿತ ಕುಶಲಕರ್ಮಿಗಳು ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ವಿಧಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಖಾದಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇದು ಗಾಂಧಿಜೀಯವರ ಸರಳತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ವಯಂಪೂರ್ಣತೆಯ ತತ್ವಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ನೂಲುವ ಚಕ್ರಗಳ ಲಯಬದ್ಧವಾದ ಸದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ನಿಖರವಾದ ನೇಯ್ಗೆ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯು ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರನ್ನು/ಸಂದರ್ಶಕರನ್ನು ಭಾರತದ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಹೋರಾಟದ ದಿನಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೊಂಡೊಯ್ಯುವ ವಾತಾವರಣವನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಖಾದಿಯು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿರೋಧದ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಕೇಂದ್ರವು ಕೇವಲ ನೇಕಾರಿಕೆ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿರದೆ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಸಬಲೀಕರಣದ ದಾರಿದೀಪವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಕುಶಲಕರ್ಮಿಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಿಗೆ ಉದ್ಯೋಗಾವಕಾಶಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಳೆಯ ಕರಕುಶಲತೆಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಜೀವನೋಪಾಯವನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಲು ಅನುವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಕೇಂದ್ರವು ನೈಸರ್ಗಿಕ ಬಣ್ಣಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಾವಯವ ಹತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಪರಿಸರ ಸುಸ್ಥಿರ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸಗಳನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಪರಿಸರ ಸ್ನೇಹಿ ಜವಳಿ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವರ್ತಕವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ  ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡುವವರು ಖಾದಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ನೂಲುವ ಮತ್ತು ನೇಯುವ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯನ್ನು ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಬಹುದು. ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇರುವ ಮಳಿಗೆಯು ಉಡುಪುಗಳಿಂದ ಗೃಹೋಪಕರಣಗಳವರೆಗೆ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಖಾದಿ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು/ಸಂದರ್ಶಕರು ಈ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದ ತುಣುಕುಗಳನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
