ChikkaDevammana Betta is a hidden gem in Mysuru district. It is not only a prominent pilgrimage site near Mysore but also a well-loved trekking spot in Karnataka. Perched atop the hill, known as ChikkaDevammanaBettal is an ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Chikka Devamma, who is believed to be the sister of Goddess Chamundeshwari. The origins of this temple go back a long time in history, though in more recent times it was embellished by the Wodeyar kings of Mysore. The road leading to the summit of the hill on which nestles the ancient temple of the Goddess who is said to be the sister of Sri Chamundeshwari Devi, is filled with spectacular views around every bend. For adventure enthusiasts, there is a walkway to the temple which promises a thrilling experience. Once you are at the top, the views of the fields below and the tiny villages stretched out in the distance are spectacular. There is an annual Chariot festival at the temple during the auspicious festival of Ugadi when the deity is taken out in procession after a ceremonial dip in the waters of the Kabini River flowing near the foothills of Chikkadevamma Betta. ಚಿಕ್ಕದೇವಮ್ಮನ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಮೈಸೂರು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿ ತಾಣ. ಇದು ಮೈಸೂರು ಸಮೀಪದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಯಾತ್ರಾಸ್ಥಳ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ ಚಾರಣದ (ಟ್ರೆಕ್ಕಿಂಗ್) ಸ್ಥಳವಾಗಿದೆ. ಚಿಕ್ಕದೇವಮ್ಮನ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ಇದು ಚಿಕ್ಕದೇವಮ್ಮ ದೇವಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಪಿತವಾದ ಪುರಾತನ ದೇವಾಲಯವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಈ ದೇವಿಯನ್ನು ಚಾಮುಂಡೇಶ್ವರಿ ದೇವಿಯ ಸಹೋದರಿ ಎಂದು ನಂಬಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಮೂಲವು ಹಿಂದಿನ ಸುದೀರ್ಘ ಇತಿಹಾಸವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು ಸಹ, ಅದನ್ನು ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ರಾಜ ಮನೆತನದವರು ಪೋಷಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ತುದಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವ ರಸ್ತೆಯು ಪ್ರತಿ ತಿರುವಿನ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಅದ್ಭುತ ನೋಟಗಳಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಾಹಸ ಚಾರಣದಾರರಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾಲ್ನಡಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಪಾದಚಾರಿ ಮಾರ್ಗವಿದೆ. ಯುಗಾದಿ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಶುಭ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಕ್ಕದೇವಮ್ಮ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ತಪ್ಪಲಿನ ಬಳಿ ಹರಿಯುವ ಕಬಿನಿ ನದಿಯ ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಮಜ್ಜನದ ನಂತರ ದೇವರ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ರಥೋತ್ಸವ ನೇರವೇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು/ಭಕ್ತಾಧಿಗಳು ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಏರಿದಂತೆ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳ ವಿಹಂಗಮ ನೋಟ ಕಾಣಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ನೈಸರ್ಗಿಕ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆಯ ಆಚೆಗೆ ಆ ಬೆಟ್ಟವು ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬೆರೆಯುವ ಶಾಂತಿಯುತ ಔತಣವನ್ನು ಸವಿಯಬಹುದು ಮತ್ತು ಮನಃಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು.
