The Golden Temple, officially known as the Namdroling Monastery, is a haven of spirituality and Tibetan culture. This iconic monastery is one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India and a shining example of Tibetan Buddhist heritage. Established in 1963 by His Holiness Drubwang Padma Norbu Rinpoche, the Golden Temple serves as a centre for Buddhist teachings and meditation. It is today the largest monastery in the world of the Nyingma sect of Buddhism. The monastery is renowned for its awe-inspiring architecture, vibrant murals, and the towering golden statues of Buddha Shakyamuni, Guru Padmasambhava, and Buddha Amitayus that dominate the main prayer hall. Gilded in gold, these statues symbolise peace, harmony, and compassion and are a visual treat for visitors. The monastery walls are adorned with intricate paintings depicting Buddhist teachings and mythological stories, offering visitors a deeper understanding of Tibetan culture. The monastery is a thriving spiritual hub, housing a community of over five thousand monks, nuns, and experienced teachers. It includes a junior high school named Yeshe Wodsal Sherab Raldri Ling, where young students receive education, as well as a Buddhist philosophy college (shedra) providing advanced teachings for monks and nuns. Additionally, the monastery features a home for the elderly and a hospital, reflecting its commitment to holistic care and the well-being of its community.

ಗೋಲ್ಡನ್ ಟೆಂಪಲ್, ಅಧಿಕೃತವಾಗಿ ನಾಮ್‌ಡ್ರೋಲಿಂಗ್ ಮೊನಾಸ್ಟರಿ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಟಿಬೆಟಿಯನ್ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಸ್ವರ್ಗವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಕೇಂದ್ರವು ಭಾರತದ ಅತಿದೊಡ್ಡ ಟಿಬೆಟಿಯನ್ ಜನವಸತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಟಿಬೆಟಿಯನ್ ಬೌದ್ಧ ಪರಂಪರೆಗೆ ಜ್ವಲಂತ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. 1963 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಗೌರವಾನ್ವಿತ ಡ್ರುಬ್ವಾಂಗ್ ಪದ್ಮ ನಾರ್ಬು ರಿಂಪೋಚೆ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ ಗೋಲ್ಡನ್ ಟೆಂಪಲ್ ಬೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮದ ಬೋಧನೆಗಳ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇದು ಇಂದು ಬೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮದ ನೈಂಗ್ಮಾ ಪಂಥದ ವಿಶ್ವದ ಅತಿದೊಡ್ಡ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ತನ್ನ ವಿಸ್ಮಯಕಾರಿ ವಾಸ್ತುಶಿಲ್ಪ, ರೋಮಾಂಚಕ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಬುದ್ಧ ಶಕ್ಯಮುನಿ, ಗುರು ಪದ್ಮಸಂಭವ ಮತ್ತು ಬುದ್ಧ ಅಮಿತಾಯಸ್ ಅವರ ಗೋಪುರದ ಚಿನ್ನದ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಚಿನ್ನದ ಲೇಪನದಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಈ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಗಳು ಶಾಂತಿ, ಸೌಹಾರ್ದತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಾನುಭೂತಿ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ ಭಕ್ತರಿಗೆ/ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸುಂದರ ದೃಶ್ಯಾನುಭವ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಗೋಡೆಗಳು ಬೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮದ ಬೋಧನೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪೌರಾಣಿಕ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುವ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣವಾದ ವರ್ಣಚಿತ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿವೆ. ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರಿಗೆ ಟಿಬೆಟಿಯನ್ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಆಳವಾದ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಹೊಂದುತ್ತಿರುವ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಸುಮಾರು ಐದು ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಸನ್ಯಾಸಿಗಳು, ಬಿಕ್ಕುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅನುಭವಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರ ಸಮುದಾಯವನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಇದು ಯೆಶೆ ವೊಡ್ಸಲ್ ಶೆರಾಬ್ ರಾಲ್ಡ್ರಿ ಲಿಂಗ್ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನ ಕಿರಿಯರ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನು ಸಹ ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಯುವ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಬೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮ, ತತ್ವಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ (ಶೆಡ್ರಾ), ಸನ್ಯಾಸಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಬಿಕ್ಕುಗಳಿಗೆ ಸುಧಾರಿತ ಬೋಧನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿಯಾಗಿ ಈ ಕೇಂದ್ರವು ಹಿರಿಯರಿಗೆ ಮನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಿದೆ. ಇದು ಸಮಗ್ರ ಆರೈಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಯೋಗಕ್ಷೇಮದ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
