Shri Mahalakshmi Gunjanarasimhaswamy Temple, Taluk: T.Narasipura, District: Mysuru

The Gunjanarasimhaswamy Temple lends its name to Tirumakudlu Narasipura(T. Narasipura). It is a revered shrine dedicated to Lord Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Nestled at the confluence of the Cauvery, Kabini, and Spatika  Sarovara rivers, this temple holds immense spiritual and historical significance. The serene surroundings and the sacred confluence make it a tranquil retreat for devotees and visitors alike. It is believed that this place is more sacred than Kashi by the measure of one Gunja (Gulaganji), a seed of the Gunja tree. The deity of the temple is Lakshmi Narasimha, who can be seen holding a twig of the Gunja tree in one hand. A Gunja tree can be seen near the entrance to the temple. The temple dates back to the Vijayanagara period and has an impressive Gopuram. A Mandapa or pillared hall can be seen in front of the Garbagriha or sanctum, embellished with pillars adorned with sculptures depicting the iconography of the Dashavatara, Gunjanarasimhaswamy Temple comes alive during festivals like Narasimha Jayanti and Vaikuntha Ekadashi when it attracts thousands of devotees. Special rituals and processions create an atmosphere of devotion and celebration, immersing visitors in the spiritual aura of the temple.

ಗುಂಜಾ ನರಸಿಂಹಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ತಿರುಮಕೂಡಲು ನರಸೀಪುರ (ತಿ. ನರಸೀಪುರ) ದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಇದು ವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ ಅವತಾರವಾದ ನರಸಿಂಹನಿಗೆ ಮೀಸಲಾದ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಾವೇರಿ, ಕಬಿನಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಪಟಿಕ ಸರೋವರ ನದಿಗಳ ಸಂಗಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಅಪಾರವಾದ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಶಾಂತವಾದ ಪರಿಸರ ಮತ್ತು ಪವಿತ್ರ ಸಂಗಮವು ಭಕ್ತರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರಿಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಅನುಭವವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಗುಂಜ ಮರದ ಬೀಜವಾದ ಒಂದು ಗುಂಜ (ಗುಲಗಂಜಿ) ಅಳತೆಯಿಂದ ಈ ಸ್ಥಳವು ಕಾಶಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪವಿತ್ರವೆಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇದೆ. ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀನರಸಿಂಹ ದೇವರ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ಒಂದು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗುಂಜ ಮರದ ಕೊಂಬೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದು. ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ದ್ವಾರದ ಬಳಿ ಒಂದು ಗುಂಜಾಳ ಮರವನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದು. ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಕಾಲಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಹಿಂದಿನದು ಮತ್ತು ಆಕರ್ಷಕವಾದ ಗೋಪುರವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಗರ್ಭಗೃಹ ಅಥವಾ ಗರ್ಭಗುಡಿಯ ಮುಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಟಪ ಅಥವಾ ಕಂಬದ ಸಭಾಂಗಣವನ್ನು ನೋಡಬಹುದು. ದಶಾವತಾರದ ಪ್ರತಿಮಾಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುವ ಶಿಲ್ಪಗಳಿಂದ ಕಂಬಗಳು ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿವೆ. ನರಸಿಂಹ ಜಯಂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ವೈಕುಂಠ ಏಕಾದಶಿಯಂತಹ ಉತ್ಸವಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಭಕ್ತರನ್ನು ಆಕರ್ಷಿಸುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಗುಂಜಾನರಸಿಂಹಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಗಳು ಹಬ್ಬದ ವಾತಾವರಣವನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.
