Mysore Silk Weaving Factory (KSIC) District: Mysuru

The Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Limited (KSIC) operates a renowned silk weaving factory in the heart of Mysuru and a silk reeling unit in T. Narasipura. Together, they handle the entire silk production process, from reeling silk threads to weaving exquisite pure silk fabrics in diverse designs.Originally established with just 10 looms, the factory expanded to 44 advanced looms imported from Switzerland and Japan, significantly boosting its production capacity. The factory’s primary goal has always been to produce premium-quality pure silk fabric under the prestigious Mysore Silk brand. The silk, known as Bombyx Mori, made from the mulberry plant (Hippu Nerale), is highly sought after and accounts for nearly 90% of global silk production.

India stands as the second-largest producer and the largest consumer of silk in the world, a position achieved thanks to the visionary leadership of Mysore’s former rulers. The Mysore Silk Weaving Factory, fondly referred to as the Mysore Silk Factory, was established under the visionary leadership of Rajarishi Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV in the early 1900s. In 1912, the Mysore Government introduced a robust institutional framework to promote silk production. With a legacy spanning over 100 years, the Mysore Silk Factory continues to symbolize excellence, blending tradition and innovation to produce some of the world’s finest silk fabrics.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೆಗಳ ನಿಗಮ ನಿಯಮಿತ (ಕೆಎಸ್ಐಸಿ) ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಹೃದಯ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ನೇಯ್ಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ತಿ. ನರಸೀಪುರದಲ್ಲಿ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಸುತ್ತುವ ಘಟಕವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ನೂಲುಗಳನ್ನು ರೀಲಿಂಗ್ ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸೊಗಸಾದ ಶುದ್ಧ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೇಯುವ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಉತ್ಪಾದನಾ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.ಮೂಲತಃ ಕೇವಲ 10 ಮಗ್ಗಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾದ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆಯು ಸ್ವಿಜರ್ ಲ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಮತ್ತು ಜಪಾನ್ ನಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾದ 44 ಸುಧಾರಿತ ಮಗ್ಗಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು. ಇದು ಅದರ ಉತ್ಪಾದನಾ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವನ್ನು ಗಣನೀಯವಾಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿತು. ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಮೈಸೂರು ಸಿಲ್ಕ್ ಬ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೀಮಿಯಂ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ ಶುದ್ಧ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ಪಾದಿಸುವುದು ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಹಿಪ್ಪು ನೆರಳೆಯಿಂದ ತಯಾರಿಸಲಾದ ಬಾಂಬೆಕ್ಸ್ ಮೋರಿ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ರೇಷ್ಮೆಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬೇಡಿಕೆಯಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಜಾಗತಿಕ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆಯ ಸುಮಾರು ಶೇ.90 ರಷ್ಟಿದೆ.

ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಆಡಳಿತಗಾರರ ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿಯ ನಾಯಕತ್ವದಿಂದಾಗಿ ಭಾರತವು ವಿಶ್ವದ ಎರಡನೇ ಅತಿದೊಡ್ಡ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಉತ್ಪಾದಕ ಮತ್ತು ಅತಿದೊಡ್ಡ ಗ್ರಾಹಕ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಮೈಸೂರು ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ನೇಯ್ಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ಮೈಸೂರು ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆಯನ್ನು 1900ರ ದಶಕದ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜಋಷಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣರಾಜ ಒಡೆಯರ್ IVರ ದೂರದರ್ಶಿ ನಾಯಕತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು. 1912 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೈಸೂರು ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸಲು ದೃಢವಾದ ಸಾಂಸ್ಥಿಕ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿತು. 100 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಗೂ ಅಧಿಕಕಾಲ ವೈಭವದ ಪರಂಪರೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಮೈಸೂರು ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂಕೇತಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಮಿಶ್ರಣ ಮಾಡಿ ವಿಶ್ವದ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಉತ್ಪಾದಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.
