Established by Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, the sanctuary is not just a haven for birds but also underlines the spiritual and ecological importance of conserving bird life. What makes Shukavana extraordinary is its diverse collection of over 2000 parrots, representing more than 450 species from around the globe. ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಅವಧೂತ ದತ್ತ ಪೀಠದ ಪ್ರಶಾಂತ ವಾತಾವರಣದ ಶುಕವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ವಿವಿಧ ಪ್ರಭೇದದ ಗಿಳಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೀಸಲಾಗಿರುವ ಧಾಮವಾಗಿದೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಗಣಪತಿ ಸಚ್ಚಿದಾನಂದ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿರವರು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿರುವ ಈ ಶುಕವನವು ಗಿಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಸರ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಜಗತ್ತಿನಾದ್ಯಂತ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಅಮೆರಿಕಾದ ವರ್ಣರಂಜಿತ ಮಕಾವ್‌ಗಳಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತ ಆಫ್ರಿಕನ್ ಗ್ರೇ ಗಿಳಿಗಳಂತಹ 450ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಜಾತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ 2000ಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಗಿಳಿಗಳಿರುವ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಸಂಗ್ರಹವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಗಿಳಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನೈಸರ್ಗಿಕವಾದಂತಹ ವಸತಿಗಳನ್ನು  ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶುಕವನವು ವಿಶೇಷ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಗಿಳಿಗಳು ಶಾಂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯದ ಸಂದೇಶವಾಹಕರು ಎಂದು ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಅನುಯಾಯಿಗಳು ನಂಬುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಗಿಳಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಹಾರ ನೀಡುವ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂವಹನ ನಡೆಸುವ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಅನುಭವಿಸಬಹುದು. ಇವುಗಳ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರದಿಂದ ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಅಪರೂಪದ ಅವಕಾಶವಿದೆ. ಶುಕವನಕ್ಕೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡುವುದು ಪಕ್ಷಿ ಉತ್ಸಾಹಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಸರ ಪ್ರವಾಸೋದ್ಯಮದ ಅನುಭವನ್ನು ಸಹ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಶುಕವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಮನಸೆಳೆಯುವ ಬಣ್ಣದ ಗಿಳಿಗಳು ಹಿತವಾದ ಚಿಲಿಪಿಲಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಶಾಂತ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂತೋಷದ ವಾತಾವರಣವನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
