Mysuru Tourism

Privacy, in plain words

What this website collects, what it does not, and who else receives anything when you use it.

Department of Tourism, Mysuru

The short version

This site has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It does not set a cookie of its own, it does not create an account for you, and it does not ask you to sign in. Nothing you read here is recorded against you.

When you send us a message

The contact page carries a form, and the two guides, Ammu and Gajju, can take a message for the office in conversation. Both ask for the same things: your name, a phone number, an email address if you want to give one, and what you would like the office to know. Both require you to tick or say yes to passing those details on before anything is sent. Nothing is collected unless you fill the form in and agree.

What happens then: the message is written to a file on this website’s server, which is not reachable from the web, and it is emailed to the district tourism office. The email is sent through Brevo, a transactional email service, which handles the delivery and keeps a record of it. Brevo therefore sees what you wrote and the contact details you gave, for the purpose of delivering the message and for no other.

The office keeps your message as it would any other correspondence, to answer your enquiry. If you want to know what is held about you, or want it corrected or deleted, write to the address at the bottom of this page and say roughly when you contacted us.

The accommodation pages still carry an older enquiry form that opens your own email program instead of submitting here. Nothing from that one reaches this website.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. Choosing a language in the selector writes one cookie, googtrans, which records the language you picked so the next page you open is in the same one. Clearing your browser’s cookies removes it and the site returns to English.

Other services on these pages

Three things on this site are provided by Google, and using them means your browser contacts Google directly. The department does not control what Google records, and Google’s own privacy policy applies:

  • Maps. Most attraction pages embed a Google map. It loads only when you scroll down to it.
  • Translation. Choosing any language other than English sends the text of the page to Google’s translation service.
  • Fonts. The typefaces are served from Google Fonts.

Links to other websites - the Dasara ticketing site, KSTDC, Karnataka Tourism, the department’s Facebook and Instagram pages - are links only. Those sites set their own cookies and have their own privacy policies, and this one does not cover them.

What is stored in your browser

The site keeps a small amount of information in your own browser so it behaves sensibly: the language you chose, and a cached copy of the pages you have visited so they still open if you lose signal. This stays on your device. It is not sent anywhere and the department cannot read it. Clearing your browsing data removes it.

Children

This site is for general use and does not knowingly collect anything from children.

Asking about your information

If you have written to the office and want to know what is held, or want it corrected or deleted, write to the address below and say when you contacted us.

Changes to this page

If the site starts collecting anything it does not collect today, this page will say so before that begins.
